Solar Energy Stations Launched at World Heritage Sites and Museums in Egypt as a COP 27 initiative.

This initiative follows the endorsement of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed back in 2022 to integrate solar power into archaeological heritage sites and museums. The MoU was inked during the United Nations climate conference, COP27, in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt on November 11, 2022. The pact was a mutual agreement between the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Aligning with State Commitment
Moamen Othman, the head of SCA’s museum department, remarked that this project is in line with the state’s commitment to preserving archaeological sites. The ambitious plan aims to transition these sites into solar energy-based green locations, in alignment with the ‘Egypt Vision 2030’ Sustainable Development Strategy.
