Climate warning

They censored a climate activist during the Césars ceremony

During the 48th Césars film award ceremony, Nina, a young climate activist from Dernière Rénovation, came on stage, wearing a T-shirt that read "We have 761 days left". Within seconds, Canal+ stopped the show and security guards grabbed her and carried her out of the room.
The inscription "We have 761 days left" referred to the latest IPCC report in which scientists warn us that in order to stay under the 1.5°C global warming target, humanity has 761 days. Right now, we are heading toward a global temperature increase of about 3°C by the end of the century. And the French government is already developing plans to adapt to +4°C.
Censoring climate activists won't stop climate change from happening. Canal+ and the film industry have a responsibility in raising awareness, and to act on climate change.

In an article published in the French newspaper "Le Monde" and initiated by the French film director Cyril Dion, some twenty film professionals, including actors like Juliette Binoche, or Gilles Lellouche, deplore the censorship of a climate activist during the Césars ceremony and call on the film industry to take up the issue of climate change:
"We, as film professionals, cannot continue to act as if nothing had happened while our planet becomes uninhabitable".
We Don't Have Time to ignore climate change. Ignoring an issue won't stop it from happening. It will just delay action. And We Don't Have Time for it!

This is a clear violation of her right to freedom of expression, and a symbol of how the climate crisis is still not taken seriously enough by those in power.
