These disasters are carpet bombing the #economy
🇹🇼 On April 3, #Taiwan was hit by the strongest #earthquake of magnitude 7.4 in 25 years. As a result, at least 125 buildings and 35 road infrastructure were damaged. Also, on April 22, 73 earthquakes were recorded there, 52 of them with magnitude 4+, 19 with magnitude 5+ and 2 with magnitude 6+.
🇴🇲 🇪🇭 In mid-April, the Gulf countries received almost a year's worth of rainfall in a day. Infrastructure in #Oman and the #UAE was hardest hit. Water damage also hit Iran, Yemen, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
🇪🇺 In #Europe after an unusually early warming, frosts not typical for late April began. A significant proportion of the region's fruit and vegetable crops were at risk.
🇨🇳 In late April, the southern part of #China was hit by the worst flooding in 50 years, accompanied by hurricane-force winds. Infrastructure was severely damaged: more than 83,000 people were evacuated, at least 1.16 million households lost power, and more than 1,000 schools were closed.
🇰🇪 At the same time, severe flooding was observed in #Kenya
The disaster destroyed about a thousand heads of livestock and hundreds of hectares of farmland. Significant damage was caused to the capital Nairobi, where the local river overflowed its banks. Transportation interchanges have been flooded in some areas.
🇿🇲 🇲🇼 🇿🇼 While Kenya was drowning, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi entered national disaster mode due to a severe drought that destroyed all crops, leaving at least 20 million people without food.
This is by no means a complete list of the natural disasters that have occurred this month. Losses are estimated in the hundreds of millions of dollars and judging by the dynamics will only grow.
