To Ban Short-haul Flights Where You Can Take Train For Under Two Hours

Spain is banning some short-haul domestic flights as part of its plan to reduce carbon emissions in the atmosphere. Flights with a rail alternative that takes less than two and a half hours will not be allowed going forward, “except in cases of connection with hub airports that link with international routes”. The restriction is part of an agreement made in Congress by Spain’s coalition government. The country has been considering a ban since 2021 as part of its 2050 climate action plan. https://www.euronews.com/green/2024/02/23/spains-plan-to-ban-domestic-flights-where-you-can-take-a-train-in-under-two-and-half-hours

This is very brilliant of Spain. Short haul flights sure do cause a lot of carbon emissions and their replacement with train travel is a stroke of genius
