A group of pension funds have brought legal action against Volkswagen after they allege it refused repeated attempts to reveal crucial information on its corporate climate lobbying. Gothenburg, Sweden-based AP2 and AP4, Stockholm-based AP3 and AP7; Gentofte, Denmark-based AkademikerPension; and London-based Church of England Pensions Board said in a news release they are concerned that, while the automotive company is publicly championing the transition to a "green" economy, "it may be undertaking lobbying activities that run counter to its stated climate ambitions, via its membership to a number of automotive and business associations." The memberships expose the company to reputational and operational damage, and puts the security of investors' exposures in question, the release said.
