Mine Storage is a Sweden based company that has an energy storage solution. Mine Storage wants to develop environmentally friendly energy storage plants in abandoned underground mines. This is a great idea as it involves least construction of new infrastructure and uses already available space which is of no other use. The availability of sites in the world is significant, as it is estimated that there are more than 500 000 abandoned mines with no current purpose. Visit: https://www.minestorage.com/

Great to see that Mine Storage is getting noticed, very appreciated and important! Mine Storage saw the first daylight because of the immediate need for inertia-adding and sustainable grid-scale storage. We need more renewables to reduce GHG-emissions, but the problem is that the electricity grid is vulnerable to weather dependent power generation. It needs to be stable, otherwise it hinders more renewables to be deployed. The most proven large-scale technology is pumped storage hydropower and this is the technology we apply in an environmentally sustainable way in abandoned mines. We call this brilliant innovation mine storage. A mine storage doesn't use rare earth metals such as cobalt, it repurposes abandoned mines, it has a very limited environmental impact, a long life-cycle of 60+ years, long discharge times of up to days, a high round-trip efficiency and at a very low cost of storage. We need this proven technology and solution to speed up the energy transition and to battle climate change! Raine/ Mine Storage International

Great LCOS in Mine storage.

Sounds like there’s going to be a use for all the abandoned mines in our world that will never be used for coal extraction again. Bravo 👏 thank you.

Check out https://www.storelectric.com/ as their tech can be used for the same.

It's great idea, but maybe abandoned mines can be used for something else, for example for storing captured carbon or something.

Sounds like another good idea!

By only using a fraction of the abandoned mines as mine storages we can make a huge climate difference by enabling renewables and a zero carbon grid. Electricity production today represents nearly 30% of all co2 emissions.
