Climate warning

Sweden is unique. By law, cows must be able to graze grass outside in the summer, just as they were created to do.

A unique right that not everyone likes
Sweden is the only country in the world where it is a law that all cattle over 6 months (except bulls) must be given the opportunity to graze outdoors in the summer. It is something that most of us are proud of. But some heavy players think that the grazing requirement is unfair because they think it makes it more expensive to raise animals in Sweden than in other EU countries. The National Federation of Farmers, LRF is one of the players who want to remove the grazing requirement, citing that the farmer should be able to decide for himself over his animals.
These demands have also been picked up by politicians. Rural Affairs Minister Peter Kullgren (KD), with the support of the rest of the government party and SD, has appointed an investigation into "strengthened competitiveness for food producers and strong animal protection". Peter Kullgren's party has on several occasions motioned in the Riksdag to remove the grazing requirement from the law.

This is ridiculous, and should be considered animal cruelty!

Minister Peter Kullgren is unfortunately also a big fan of destructive overfishing in the Baltic Sea.

That sounds like a lot of unnecessary regulation to me.

This is disturbing, the farmers and the authorities must reconsider their decisions keeping in mind the wellbeing of the environment and the cattles too.

We all know that those farmers want to make money, but even if they are making it, they should consider the wellbeing of climate. Rearing livestock should not hinder the development of sustainable climate.

This is alarming. Both authorities and farmers should find a solution which is not only good for them but also for the environment.

In as much as they would want to make more money out of the business....they should also consider the well being of the animals themselves.
