Brookfield Asset Management has announced an initial closing of $2.4 billion for its Catalytic Transition Fund (CTF), aiming to raise up to $5 billion for clean energy investments in emerging markets. Launched at COP28 with $1 billion from ALTÉRRA, the fund seeks to mobilize private investment for climate solutions, particularly in regions like South and Central America, South and Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe. Brookfield has also welcomed additional partners, including CDPQ, GIC, Prudential, and Temasek, as it strives to meet the growing investment needs for climate initiatives.
This underscores the importance of collaboration among institutional investors to address the pressing need for sustainable investments in emerging markets. This initiative could play a pivotal role in achieving global net-zero targets while fostering economic growth in underserved regions.
