Ancient DNA holds hope for modern crops fighting climate change 🔬💡

Scientists are exploring into the distant past, extracting DNA samples from the Paleolithic period, between 100,000 and 200,000 years ago, to help modern crops face the challenges of climate change. 🔬🧬
As the planet gets warmer, researchers from Heriot-Watt University are analyzing ancient soil samples from beneath the Arctic. Their goal is to discover whether prehistoric plants, soil, and bacteria can offer solutions for today's crops struggling with drought and other climate-related stresses.🌱🌍🌾

Exploring ancient DNA to bolster modern crops against climate change is a promising approach to ensure food security. By identifying genetic traits that enabled prehistoric plants to thrive in warmer conditions, researchers can potentially develop resilient crops capable of withstanding climate-related stresses like drought. I'd really like to see this happen

@elizbeth_gathigia Research is the key to us surviving climate change, hunger, drought and all other these issues facing us bad if we're to beat them, we need to invest heavily in research.
