Cargotec will use fossil-free steel in their cargo handling products
Cargotec is the first cargo handling company to sign up for fossil-free steel. Together with the steel producer SSAB, they have agreed to development solutions with SSAB’s fossil-free steel in Cargotec’s cargo handling equipment. Cargotec is a global leader in loader cranes (Hiab, Effer), forestry cranes (Jonsered), forklifts and container trucks (Kalmar) and ship cranes (MacGregor). “I am proud that we are paving the way in the cargo handling industry through commitment to using fossil-free steel and have this unique opportunity to work with a forerunner in fossil-free steel development. This is an important step towards our vision of becoming a leader in sustainable cargo flow,” says Mika Vehviläinen, CEO of Cargotec. Cargotec has signed United Nations Global Compact Business Ambition for 1.5°C. Another reason why the new coking coal mine proposed in Cumbria, UK should not go ahead. Decision on that to be made by whoever is the Minister for levelling up on 17 August.
