Nexam Chemical and Aion have developed plastic material from recycled ocean plastic which meets the high demands of the furniture industry, thanks to Nexam Chemical's Recolor Plus coloring concept. Up until now, ocean plastic has rarely been used for other applications than simple brown or black products like flower pots or waste bags, due to their color variations. This recycled plastic is used in Kaos' children's seats and leads to reduced environmental impact without compromising the furniture's function or appearance.
"The big challenge with plastic from the oceans is the many different colors that the collected plastic has, which until now has limited the applications in which end-product it may be used. With Nexam's coloring concept ReColour Plus, we can now offer a significantly more commercially viable end-product, which significantly broadens the possibilities. Hopefully, in the long run, it will contribute to an increased interest in collecting plastic, an important contribution to cleaner and healthier seas", says Eirik Seljelid, CEO of Aion.

We love seeing all the initiatives out there collecting fishing nets and transforming them into products through f ex 3D printing! it would be amazing to see collaboration across all the smaller scale initiatives, to define and scale a viable model for the value chain - from collecting nodes and clean distribution to recycling plants together with low emission solutions to develop and distribute new products. We are curious about your color concept and trust it is eco-friendly and as such a break-through! Good luck with your venture. We are cheering on you.
