The $50 million funding should be used to restore the Amazon by reforesting damaged areas, supporting biodiversity projects, and enhancing conservation efforts. This investment is crucial for repairing environmental damage and ensuring the long-term health of the rainforest.

Even in the UK eating meat will cause rainforest destruction. Speaking to some cattle farmers the other day, they said the cheapest soya beans are from Brazil. They might not have been beans from virgin forest but it adds to demand and pressure on land use.

@ian_humble Meat production itself isn’t the problem; it’s the unsustainable practices linked to it. Focusing on responsible sourcing, improving land use efficiency, and adopting regenerative agriculture can mitigate the impact on rainforests. Shifting demand towards sustainably produced meat and plant-based alternatives also helps reduce pressure on critical ecosystems.

The forest should now be protected for further encroachment.

@kareem_iyanda To protect the forest from further encroachment, Brazil should enhance enforcement of environmental regulations, strengthen land tenure rights for Indigenous communities, and increase funding for conservation initiatives. Promoting sustainable land use practices and supporting reforestation efforts will also be crucial in safeguarding the Amazon.
