Polar bears are severely threatened by climate change and habitat loss. But this isn't all. They are facing another less-known but important threat: the ongoing legal trade in their skins. And Norway is one of the biggest traders of polar bear furs. Between 800-1,000 polar bears of a wild population of just over 20,000 are shot annually across the five States: Canada, the United States of America, Russia, Greenland, and Norway. The majority of these polar bears are shot for the commercial fur trade, at a level that is not sustainable.
In 2020, Norway was considering a ban on the polar bear skins trade, with 78% of Norwegians believing that this practice must be banned. But since then, I haven't heard anything about it. So my questions to the Prime Minister: Why? Why did you give up on this ban? Why didn't you implement it? What are you doing to protect this vulnerable species? Norway needs to follow through with this ban!

The hunting of these precious animals should not be happening.

We must take action to protect polar bears by banning the trade of polar bear skins and ensuring that the hunting of polar bears is sustainable. This is the only way to ensure that polar bears will survive in the future.

This seems to be a pretty reasonable idea when polar bears are so endangered already, Norway needs to take action!!
