Trees are the structured homes for much of wildlife. We often hear about endangered animals but what about endangered trees?🌲🦌🌿

Here are some fast facts about endangered trees:

🌲 More than 20,000 tree species have made it onto the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species
🌳 8,000 tree species are assessed as globally threatened (Critically Endangered, Endangered, or Vulnerable)
And 1,400 are assessed as critically endangered
🌱 8% of forest plants, 5% of forest animals, and 5% of fungi are also critically endangered
🌿 The forest specialist index fell by 53% between 1970 and 2014, with an annual 1.7% rate of decline

This is just a reminder who everything is connected. If we create healthy ecosystems, we create healthy forests, and we protect precious wildlife.
