Beauvais airport will double its activity because of the Olympic Games – an increase in CO2eq emissions of 800,000t/year

Using the excuse of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, Beauvais Airport (France) wants to expand and double its activity by 2050, expecting 40,000 landings and take-offs in 2024 and eventually at least 8 million passengers, compared to 4 million today.
If this target of 8 million passengers is met, this would lead to an increase in emissions of 800,000 tonnes of CO2eq per year! How could this be allowed? How could we choose the profit of a few at the expense of the future of a lot?

Some local city councilors are calling for a cap on the number of aircraft movements to 32,000 per year, an extension of curfew hours, a ban on cargo flights, and an assessment of the environmental impact of the airport's activities. This is the least that can be done!
