Climate warning

There are already signs that deep divisions could hamper progress at the UN's crucial COP28 climate summit.

More than 70 environment ministers and 100 national delegations have been meeting in Abu Dhabi ahead of talks that begin in Dubai on November 30. Many delegates doubt that a summit hosted by a petrostate - the United Arab Emirates - can shepherd the world towards a low carbon future. This year is on track to be the hottest ever recorded globally. That makes the urgent need for action clearer than ever. What is COP28 in Dubai and why is it important? The president of the COP28 conference, Sultan Al Jaber, acknowledged the challenges he faces. "We must find common ground, ensure consensus and resolve differences," he urged in his opening speech. But Mr Al Jaber is himself a deeply divisive figure. https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-67271688

@sarah_chabane yes I agree, and it's very frustrating we don't have time for yet another fiasco where everyone has their own vested interests. They need to focus on the one unanimous vested interest- the planet! 🌍🙏

The future of the planet depends on countries being able to come together and agree on how to address the climate crisis.

@george_kariuki I expected better outcome from this year's Cop.But I think it is too early to loose hope because the war is not over yet.

It is concerning to hear that there are already signs of deep divisions that could hinder progress at the COP28 climate summit. Given the urgent need to address the global climate crisis, it is essential that countries come together and work towards a common goal. It is my hope that all parties involved can put aside their differences and prioritize the health of our planet for the sake of current and future generations.

It just doesn't make sense on any level that the fossil fuel can lead a stop to fossil fuel production! COP28 is a joke when what we need right now is to be deadly serious 😤

This is a bad sign that would undermine the good of climate

Under the leadership of the chair ,he should make sure he united all leadership to ensure cop 28 is successful and agreement should be made in which all members state country are satisfied with it.
