As Plastic pollution has become a menace around the globe the worst hit is India where 1.4B of PET bottles are consumed yearly and eventually littered which is a health hazard. more than 1.4B tonnes of plastic is littered every day.
This is set to change as Shree Renga Polymer in India have sought to use this bottles to make fabrics and promote sustainable fashion. This is done by compressing plastics to create threads which in this case do not use petroleum, hence reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
As their production is picking pace it's worth noting that earlier this year India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi wore a special jacket to parliament made from plastic to support this great initiative. I believe this can be done in large scale and adopted around the globe.

This technology was showcased long back in CII meet, may be before more than twenty years but the scale and confidence radiated in this video is very encouraging. Wide acceptance of such work can solve many problems of many areas. Gratitude for sharing.
