Petrochemical giant Dow has setup fake plastic recycling operations throughout many territories across the world in order to promote the use of plastics as "safe for the environment". The following investigation by Reuters journalists goes deep into an operation set by Dow in Singapore promising to recycle plastic sports shoes into playgrounds and other amenities for children, however the journalist unveiled that the shows placed in the dedicated bins end up instead in illegal second-hand clothing trade in other countries, with many of them being simply burned or dumped in the rivers and oceans.
The article also highlights a similar program in Idaho in 2021 where Dow promoted "breakthrough technology to turn plastic waste into clean energy" where they were simply burning the plastic to fuel a cement plant. Similarly, another Dow-backed program in India was supposed to collect plastic trash from the Ganges river to transform it into clean fuel, but it was quickly shut down due to malfunction.
This is a reminder to everyone: Plastic recycling is a lie more often than not, and the fossil fuel companies are doing their best to hide that fact so that people wouldn't stop consuming and throwing plastic away. It's nearly impossible to avoid plastic packaging these days, but when given the option, elect to buy goods with glass, cardboard or even metal packaging which has less chances of ending up poisoning our oceans.

Dow conducted numerous projects claimed to be recycling or environment-friendly, but that's not true. It's not the first time they have done like this, remember renelogy?

It's hard to imagine that through this well crafted greenwashing, they had succeeded to fool the world while they continued to reap great profits from this scandalous operation.

Petrochemical companies must be held accountable for their actions and must take responsibility for their part in the plastic pollution crisis.

This is absurd...the solution to plastics is on total ban... recycling is just a pain reliever whereas we need a permanent solution..
