China to head green energy boom with 60% of new projects in next six years.

The worldwide shift to green energy presents an enormous business opportunity, and China is ready to take the lead. The International Energy Agency forecasts that nearly 60% of all new power installations in the next six years will be in the form of renewable energy, with wind and solar power providing much of that. Not only will these developments help meet skyrocketing energy demands, but they will also curb climate change by replacing carbon-intensive fossil fuels.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) predicts that solar power will provide 80% of the new renewable energy capacity installed globally by 2030, with wind power also expected to see large-scale growth. But for this growth to become a reality, the IEA insists that power grids in many countries must be upgraded. It also says that changes are needed to the institutions and mechanisms that provide financial support for the kind of large-scale renewable energy projects that emerging economies need.

@walter_lungayi It is indeed impressive, but to truly lead in the renewable energy transition, China must also address its heavy reliance on coal. Reducing coal usage would significantly enhance their environmental impact.
