Hoping they don't stop protecting it even after his term is done , might take a while to go back to where it was before but small steps are better than nothing.

@jane_wangui Not just for food, water, wood, and medicines, but to help stabilize the climate—150-200 billion tons of carbon is stored in the Amazon rainforest. The trees in the Amazon also release 20 billion tonnes of water into the atmosphere per day, playing a critical role in global and regional carbon and water cycles.

Brazil’s commitment to protecting the Amazon under President Lula da Silva is inspiring proof that consistent climate action yields real results. With deforestation rates at their lowest in nearly a decade, the government is showcasing how impactful leadership can drive environmental recovery. As COP29 unfolds in Baku, let’s hope these positive trends set the tone for even stronger commitments when Brazil hosts COP30 next year.

@tabitha_kimani Lula vowed to prioritize the fight against the climate crisis. He gave native Brazilians a seat in the cabinet for the first time and promised to end deforestation by 2030, starting by re-enacting the Amazon Deforestation Control Plan that made Brazil a success story of climate mitigation in the past.

A great lesson to the globe, that small steps towards the right direction means so much good. I celebrate Brazil for this great commitment towards creating a sustainable future no matter the hurdles they are facing. I hope the conference in Azerbaijan will be a great platform for the globe to take these lessons home.

Deforestation is deforestation, big or small it is not important, the once hundreds of years old trees which were all cut down and sold to Far Eastern countries, nowadays covering the floors of many office buildings, could never been returned to their original place and given their lives back as life saving tree giants, therefore it’s very true to say that men has no right to kill, not only his brothers and sisters but also any living creation which has a big value in the Holy Eyes of The Creator. Created always with an aim mostly hidden from our limited knowledge and imagination the way Mr Mao Tse Tung ordered to destroy all sparrows in China of his times because they were eating the crops, had a great impact on mobilisation of millions of unwanted insects too, a good example to remember. Blessings. Amen 🙏

The decline in deforestation rates is a positive step for biodiversity conservation and for the Indigenous communities who rely on the forest for their livelihoods.

Brazil’s actions are a great reminder that every step toward sustainability counts, no matter how small. If more countries adopt this mindset, we could see a global shift in how we approach climate change.
