Today its World Tuna Day
On the west coast of Sweden the blue finned tuna is making a slow comeback!
#WorldTunaDay is about taking a stand against industrial fishing. Us humans are challenging the natural order of so many ecosystems on our planet.
The French scientist Gaël Mariani, at Université de Montpellier has researched about how big fishes when they die naturally, sink to the bottom of the sea and the carbon from their body is stored in the sediments for thousands of years. When fishes like tuna gets fished and taken up above the surface that carbon is instead released into the atmosphere within weeks.
We need to find a way to live in harmony with our planet. Fishing methods needs to be changed to stop climate and biodiversity impact.
