Climate warning

India’s push toward renewables won’t stop coal reliance for the next two decades.

There’s little doubt that India has made progress in its transition to renewable energy. The country’s leaders have been optimistic about its path to net zero, making bold claims that 50% of its power generation will come from renewables by 2030, and 100% by 2070.

India's prolonged reliance on coal for the next two decades is disheartening, considering the urgent global need for sustainable energy solutions.

India’s dependence on coal is rather disappointing indeed. The reluctance to divest is also deeply intertwined with the desire for unconditional growth. (Which sadly is just a dismal attempt to emulate what had been done elsewhere) I do hope some sense prevails and there is a bigger push for cleaner grid.

India must be committed to the task of transitioning to clean and renewable energy and work around the clock to hit their targets, this is now alarming.

India's continued reliance on coal for the next two decades highlights the challenge of transitioning to renewable energy, but it also underscores the need for a balanced approach to meet growing energy demands.
