A new report from UN Climate Change shows countries are bending the curve of global greenhouse gas emissions downward but underlines that these efforts remain insufficient to limit global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius by the end of the century. “The downward trend in emissions expected by 2030 shows that nations have made some progress this year,” said Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary of UN Climate Change. “But the science is clear and so are our climate goals under the Paris Agreement. We are still nowhere near the scale and pace of emission reductions required to put us on track toward a 1.5 degrees Celsius world. To keep this goal alive, national governments need to strengthen their climate action plans now and implement them in the next eight years.” Read the full statement: https://unfccc.int/news/climate-plans-remain-insufficient-more-ambitious-action-needed-now

Countries that have put the most greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and ocean (per capita) since the first CoP should lead the way on reductions

Great idea! countries should collaboratively enhance their implementation of NDC to help the realization of sustainable goals in the remaining eight years.

Without this "diagnose," it is difficult to speak up or take action; everyone, not just one country, is in the same boat. First they have to do it. They have to analyse each country's impact on climate change, direct and indirect influence, and strategic development. Without having this "diagnose," it is not easy to speak up or take action. Everyone, not each country, is in the same situation.

This call is vital to achieving optimum global temps. Just hope it will be worth it at the COP which is just around the corner.

I totally agree that most countries need to improve on their climate actions.
