The launch of Europe's largest hydrogen plant in Herøya, Norway, marks a pivotal moment for the country's sustainable industrial sector. It promises to boost green energy production, reduce carbon emissions significantly, and enhance Norway's leadership in renewable energy technologies. Good steps these are.

Hydrogen holds tremendous potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and combating climate change. Policymakers and industry are pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into various hydrogen energy technologies. But hydrogen is a leak-prone gas with a potent warming effect of its own that is widely overlooked. Whether a hydrogen energy revolution helps the climate will depend on how it’s produced, managed and used. I hope Norway looks into the other side of hydrogen production and put all necessary measures to insure it only benefits the planet and reduce the warming effects

Alternative renewable clean energy is the future. Well done Yara International and Norway.
