New Mexico governor: state agencies must switch to all-electric vehicle fleet by the year 2035

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed an executive order Monday directing state agencies to switch to an all-electric vehicle fleet within the next 12 years. Lujan Grisham also said she intends to pursue tax credits for electric vehicles during the upcoming legislative session. The Democratic governor made the announcement Monday during her Symposium on the Future of Transportation in New Mexico. “The fact of the matter is that consumers and dealers want better access to electric vehicles, and the actions we’ve taken through Clean Car rules and now tax credits are leveling the playing field,” Lujan Grisham said. “I also took action today to make sure the state is ‘walking the walk’ when it comes to widely adopting low- and zero-emission vehicles by requiring the state fleet to be zero-emission by 2035.”

I commend New Mexico for its leadership on this issue. I hope that other states will follow New Mexico's lead and take steps to promote the adoption of electric vehicles.

Why take it too far when she can at least do something while she can?!

New Mexico's governor's decision to switch all state agency vehicles to electric by 2035 is a positive step towards reducing carbon emissions and promoting a cleaner environment.

The good kinds of ultimatums! Stockholm recently made a decision to ban all petrol and diesel cars in the capital by 2025.. Its encouraging to see such climate conscious cities and countries

@winnie_nguru 2025 is just around the corner but in this case 2035 is far away but we can try and work with that.

Going electric is the goal but it needs to be achieved sooner than later

Electric vehicles must continue to become more prevalent in the coming years.

The period of 12 years seems too far!!it's a goal that maybe can be achieved even earlier than the stipulated time
