Making art out of hospital waste - showing how it can be reduced by 90 per cent.
After her cancer surgery, the artist Maria Koijck was horrified by how much waste the procedure generated. The Swedish medical technology company Mölnlycke responded by showing that up to 90 percent of the packaging waste from an operation can be reduced. The result: A collaboration that has now resulted in a work of art.
FACTS
Mölnlycke's pre-sterilized custom set (ProcedurePak) contains everything needed for a specific procedure in one package, significantly reducing packaging waste, as well as excess items generated by more generic surgical sets. In addition to reducing packaging waste by up to 90 percent*, ProcedurePaks help facilitate more procedures by reducing preparation time by up to 40 percent.
