“We want to have more renewable energy, and this is only possible with storage.”
This was the message from Azelio’s VP Business Development, Ralf Wiesenberg, during a panel discussion on Long-Duration Energy Storage (LDES) at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi today.
To transition away from fossil fuels and introduce more renewables, we need flexibility in the power system - to balance supply and demand, day and night. The technology to achieve this? Long-duration energy storage, which represents a 2 trillion dollar economy by 2040.
Today’s panel (L-R): Moderator Frank Wouters, Reliance Industries Limited; Dr Ibraheem Almansouri, Masdar; Ralf Wiesenberg, Azelio; Marco Terruzzin, Energy Vault; Jurgen Reinert, SMA Solar Technology AG; and Mohammed Atif, DNV.
