The Australian government has given its approval to SunCable for building a solar project worth $19 billion. The solar plant will ship energy via submarine cable to Darwin and Singapore. This undersea cable will be 4,300 km (2,672 miles) long, Reuters reported.
The solar plant will spread over an area of 12,400-hectares and transport electricity to the northern Australian city of Darwin via an 800-kilometer overhead transmission line, then on to large-scale industrial customers in Singapore through a 4,300-kilometer submarine cable.
Tanya Plibersek, Environment Minister, SunCable’s flagship Australia-Asia power link project would help meet growing demand for renewable energy at home and abroad. She adds that this project aims to deliver up to six gigawatts of green electricity each year, and will “help turn Australia into a renewable energy superpower” and boost its economy.
Cameron Garnsworthy, managing director at SunCable Australia, said in a statement, “SunCable will now focus its efforts on the next stage of planning to advance the project towards a final investment decision targeted by 2027.”

Why not use it to produce Green Hydrogen - and O2, if necessary and desirable - from electrolysis of seawater (perfected in China without evolution of Clorine gas) - in Metal Hydride powdered form so that it is a stable, easy to transport? This has the added bonus of returning pure water, as well as electricity.
