The law of consumer economics: growth in one place comes at the expense of loss elsewhere
According to Hurun Report, the number of dollar billionaires in the world continues to grow, reaching 3,279 people with a total wealth of $15 trillion. This is a 9% increase from last year. The leader in the number of billionaires is China (814), followed by the US (800) and India (271).
In parallel with the growth of wealth of the few, there is a massive impoverishment of millions of people. According to the World Bank, about 100 million people could fall below the poverty line, living on less than $1.90 a day.
The current system of statistical accounting does not allow us to trace whether there is a direct link between the growing number of billionaires and the increase in poverty on the planet as a whole. This means that a deeper understanding of microeconomic dependencies requires the discovery of objective numerical indicators that are not distorted by casuistic accounting methodology.
