Urban birds carry antibiotic-resistant bacteria, international study finds
Researchers warn of the need for public policies and health measures to contain the spread of antimicrobial resistance

04/11/2024 – Wild birds that live in urban areas are becoming reservoirs of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, according to a study led by the Ineos Oxford Institute for Antimicrobial Research, at the University of Oxford. Published in the journal Current Biology, the study reveals a worrying connection between urban life and the proliferation of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
