Ted Weber's post

Landfills leak methane at three times the rate than previously thought. Since methane traps heat 84 times more than CO2 on a 20-year timescale, it is imperative that landfills capture this gas before it leaks into the atmosphere. Only about 20% of U.S. landfills currently do this. The methane can be burned to produce electricity. Just as important (maybe more so), we need to stop wasting food, and compost the scraps (in an outdoor container with air holes) instead of putting it in the garbage.

And problem is, we keep on filling up these landfills and hence put the Planet's life at risk when more emissions are produced. Within a few years we'll have nothing left to fight for really, we have to get our act together
