Ducks can support sustainable farming

Science communication: With an increasing population, making sure that everyone has enough to eat is becoming a more important topic. As the use of chemicals to harvest more is harming the environment, it is important to look for more environmentally friendly solutions. One of these solutions when growing rice is to use ducks. Letting them live together with rice plants has many advantages. For example, when having ducks, there is no need for pesticides and herbicides. This is because when walking around a rice field, ducks find all kind of tasty food such as weeds, insects and snails; exactly what a farmer wants to get rid of.
