Circular Economy and Single-Use Plastics: A Call for Urgent Action Is this for real? What necessitates the use of single-use plastics? The startling reality is that the average usage duration of a plastic bag is a mere 12 minutes. Yet, the aftermath of this fleeting usage contributes to a vicious cycle of environmental degradation that lasts for generations. As consumers, it is imperative that we spearhead the movement towards abstaining from the consumption of single-use plastics. The power to instigate change lies within our collective choice. By rejecting single-use plastics, we take a stand against a growing environmental menace. The unsettling truth is, as long as there's demand, the supply of single-use plastics made from virgin raw materials will continue to burgeon. It's a grim reality that virgin plastic is becoming cheaper than recycled plastic, further fueling this detrimental cycle. If we continue down this perilous path of accelerated production and consumption, the forecast for 2050 is grim with plastic production projected to exceed 500 million tons. This harrowing trajectory not only threatens marine life but spells catastrophe for our ecosystems. The time to act is now; the stakes have never been higher. #ClimateActionNow
