Cyclists now outnumber motorists in the City of London

According to a recent report, cyclists now outnumber motorists in the City of London during peak hours. This means that people cycling represent a whopping 40% of road traffic in the city at peak times and 27% throughout the day.
Over the last decade, the use of motor vehicles has been increasingly restricted in the financial heart of the UK, leading to a decline in the number of motorists by 64% since 1999 and it has had positive effects on cycling statistics. The number of cyclists has increased by 386T% since 1999 and even during the pandemic, the number of cyclists has remained high, reaching 102% of pre-pandemic levels. Walking remains the primary mode of transportation in the City, but the uptick in cycling levels is pretty impressive and should signal other cities around the world that this shift is possible.

Overall, the shift towards cycling in the City of London is an excellent example of how cities can create a more sustainable, healthy, and livable environment for their citizens. By promoting cycling as a primary mode of transportation, cities can reduce their carbon footprint, improve air quality, reduce traffic congestion, and promote better health outcomes for individuals.

I wonder if London has added new bike lanes to their city to make it more bike-friendly. The last time I was there, I didn't see many. But it's great to see people using bikes more often!

Great! If all cities can shift to this approach, it indicates the carbon footprints will go down, and it will be healthy for their citizens and friendly sustainable ways.
