Huawei Digital Power has developed a solar-storage microgrid project in Saudi Arabia's Red Sea New City, which has successfully operated for a year, generating over 1 TWh of green electricity. This innovative facility features 400 MW of photovoltaic capacity and 1.3 GWh of electrochemical energy storage, making it the first independent microgrid fully powered by solar energy and storage, without any connection to traditional power networks. The system utilizes intelligent string inverters and smart storage units to ensure a reliable power supply, even during periods of low sunlight, while maintaining grid stability with advanced grid-forming technology.
