Flagging the news of three times higher Sea Surface Temperature in Southwest Pacific in their newsletter

Our oceans and seas are absorbing 90% of heat, which is caused from anthropogenic global warming. Unusual increase in sea surface temperature, therefore, demands immediate attention and call for action. World Meteorological Organization has recently informed that the sea surface temperature has risen by three times since 1980 in southwest Pacific. This rise is higher than average global sea surface temperate rise. UN Secretary General Antonio Guerres expressed his concerns about this unusual increase in Sea Surface Temperature in a recent event in Tonga on 26.08.2024. Changes in southwest Pacific needs immediate scientific probe because this region is facing higher sea level rise due to ocean floor heating and its consequent impacts in marine ecosystem as well as geological activities like earthquakes and tremors. The dynamic relationship between climate change and tectonic changes are still not vastly studied or clearly understood. Ocean floor in southwest Pacific may have few answers hidden under the deep water. Ocean is patiently waiting for scientists to find this treasure trove and is also waiting for actions to save the unique ecosystem. Gratitude to Lewis Pugh Foundation for flagging this news about this three times increase in sea surface temperature in Southwest Pacific again through their newsletter.
