ING steps up demand for climate progress

The Dutch bank ING increases the pressure on big clients to work on their climate goals.
Carbon emissions continue to increase, in part because of the profit gained by activities that cause them. But while most banks continue to pour investments into the fossil industry and other carbon-intensive sectors, ING is pushing their clients to demonstrate that they are working towards the goals set by the Paris Agreement. In their statement the bank says clients have until 2026 to show progress, or lose out on the bank's lending.
Banks like ING, that put their money where their mouth is, are sorley needed. Will other banks follow?
