Sustainability Mafia offers climate tech startup BioCompute funding to combat emissions from data centres

It is heartening to see investors showing interest in climate change initiatives. BioCompute is a startup that uses DNA for data storage to combat emissions from data centres. It has won the biggest non-equity climate entrepreneurship grant worth approximately 38,000 dollars at the SusCrunch 2024 event organized by Sustainability Mafia (SusMafia).
Also known as the ‘Bie Pie’ grant, this funding aims to help BioCompute be at the forefront of the global fight against climate change. The Pilani Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Society and SusMafia together offered the funding. Priya Shah, general partner at Theia Ventures (an investment partner for SusCrunch 2024), said, “We aim to catalyse USD 100 million in investments into Indian climate tech startups on behalf of individual and angel syndicate investors by 2030.” At a time when we need to transition from fossil fuel to green energy, these initiatives sound like a welcome change.
