The US state of New York is suing JBS, the world’s biggest meat company, for lying about being climate-friendly

Letitia James, the New York attorney general, is suing the world’s largest meat company, JBS, for misleading customers about its climate commitments. JBS claims it will be 'Net Zero by 2040,' but actually is taking no steps toward that goal, and hasn't even calculated its emissions. Yet beef has a high impact, especially in Brazil where the rainforest is cut down to raise cattle.

This legal action against JBS sets an important precedent for holding corporations accountable for their climate commitments. By suing JBS for misleading customers about its climate-friendly claims, New York is sending a strong message that greenwashing will not be tolerated. Way to go
