The US state of New York is suing JBS, the world’s biggest meat company, for lying about being climate-friendly

Letitia James, the New York attorney general, is suing the world’s largest meat company, JBS, for misleading customers about its climate commitments. JBS claims it will be 'Net Zero by 2040,' but actually is taking no steps toward that goal, and hasn't even calculated its emissions. Yet beef has a high impact, especially in Brazil where the rainforest is cut down to raise cattle.

Big intensive agriculture is bad, bad for human health, bad for animal health and bad for planet health. JBS are bad.

This legal action against JBS sets an important precedent for holding corporations accountable for their climate commitments. By suing JBS for misleading customers about its climate-friendly claims, New York is sending a strong message that greenwashing will not be tolerated. Way to go

@walter_lungayi And opens up a new front for suing corporations that act against nature's interests and those that harm our planet for their own personal gains.

@elizbeth_gathigia In fact, they should be out of business by law. When found guilty of such atrocities, they should be barred from continuing with their business model in any sane world
