In October 2024, the region of County Cork, Ireland, was struck by heavy rainfall, with as much as 65mm falling in just 12 hours. Bantry was the most affected, with floods submerging shops on Main Street and New Street, as well as local sports facilities. Authorities rapidly mobilized emergency services to deal with the aftermath and provided assistance to affected businesses through an emergency support initiative. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, as the situation continues to be precarious.
