BOOSTING FOOD SECURITY WITH YOUTH-FOCUSED URBAN AGRICULTURE

The agri-food sector is estimated to contribute up to 37% of global greenhouse gas emissions. A 5-year survey in Madrid found that urban gardening could reduce a city resident’s carbon footprint by more than 12% per year.

In Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, Hope Blooms has expanded into four social enterprises and is working to inspire the youngest generations to dig into urban agriculture. Its projects help with food security, education, and social inclusion. Growing food locally lowers transportation emissions, encourages consuming less meat, raises awareness about food sources and brings communities together.

Youth-led urban agriculture projects, like Hope Blooms, show real potential to reduce emissions, support food security, and strengthen community ties. By inspiring young people to grow food locally, these initiatives tackle multiple challenges....from reducing transportation emissions to fostering social inclusion.

Any personal agricultural effort would always give only a psychological wellbeing to the people involved with it but never enough to feed the millions of people who are unable to do so, therefore I thought of those vertical farming balloons wherein only robotic-farming would be active to reproduce tons of vegetables and earth-bound fruits very easily, in hundreds metres high helicoidal Helium balloons comprising earth replenishing, watering, fertilising, harvesting and seeds delivering systems, receiving mostly good sunlight and being able to withstand most of airborne calamities by their own propelling systems, I suppose if each country could install many of suchlike vertical farms this earth would be better served what the future of agriculture could be, I am not speaking about crops here, because most of crops farming is concerned with very variable weather conditions nowadays, they need really other earth-bound solutions, maybe something like layered crops farming systems, consisting of many robotically cultivated and enough ground depth having platforms which should also leave enough space and reflecting means of any sunlight, to be able to reach the platforms lying underneath, if yo can imagine, this may look like an open circular helicoid starting on a smaller diameter of maybe 100 meters and ending on a diameter of 500 metres or more. I suppose such a system may be capable of feeding many thousands of people per unit by producing wheat cultivation, for rice we need a similar system where much different robots should be active, mimicking all the different activity’s the rice-farmers are doing today. With technology we can provide food and many other things to prolong the lives of people, or we can produce boks, which can destroy the lives of thousands by a button pressing, the choices are there, the means also, I hope that people would love each other so much, one day, that they would like to develop life givers en mass instead of bombs in millions. May God bless this world always and give wisdom and love to its inhabitants. Amen 🙏
