Kenyan Government set to launch Bio fuel plant after investor funds injected

Kenya is being positioned to become one of the countries that will produce biojet fuel following the operationalisation of a Ksh16 billion plant, in Kwale County. In a statement, Investment Principal Secretary Abubakar Hassan Abubakar stated that the petroleum product will be produced through the refinement of castor oil, which is extracted from castor seeds. The government, with the help of Enrico Travelini - the Italian investor behind the Kwale plant - had already begun facilitating the plantation of castor with a seedling farm covering 200 hectares in Naivasha. https://www.kenyans.co.ke/news/97016-govt-hints-jet-fuel-production-after-investor-pumps-ksh16b-castor-oil-plant?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=AK

The Kenyan government's initiative to launch a biofuel plant in Kwale County, with a Ksh16 billion investment from Italian investor Enrico Travelini, is a positive step towards environmental sustainability and the fight against climate change. The production of biojet fuel from castor oil, extracted from castor seeds, aligns with global efforts to reduce reliance on traditional fossil fuels and mitigate carbon emissions. Additionally, the government's support for the cultivation of castor with a 200-hectare seedling farm in Naivasha demonstrates a commitment to promoting renewable energy sources. This project not only contributes to Kenya's economic development but also showcases a forward-looking approach to addressing environmental concerns in the context of the broader climate change agenda.
