The Norwegian state oil company Equinor wants to drill for new oil off the coast of Scotland. Equinor claims to be fully committed to reaching the Paris Agreement's goal of net zero emissions by 2050. But drilling for new oil can never be compatible with reaching climate goals. In their own environmental analysis Equinor states they are on the right track, but doesn’t seem to take into account for the emissions of the oil itself, after its pumped up and sold for profit. Last year Equinor made record £62bn profits. The new planned drillings sacrifices the climate & our future for the sake of greed.
