Narendra Modi is the hope of a sustainable future for everyone. His leadership has the scope to accelerate global efforts to beat climate change.

The Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has taken several steps to address climate change and promote sustainable development:
International Commitments: India is a signatory of the Paris Agreement, a global effort to combat climate change by limiting global warming to below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.
The Modi government committed to reducing the carbon intensity of its GDP by 33-35% by 2030 compared to 2005 levels.
Renewable Energy: The government launched the International Solar Alliance (ISA) in partnership with France to promote solar energy deployment worldwide.
India has set ambitious targets for renewable energy capacity, including 175 GW of renewable energy by 2022 and 450 GW by 2030, which includes solar, wind, hydro, and other renewable sources.
UJALA Scheme: The Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) scheme aimed to promote energy efficiency by distributing LED bulbs at subsidized rates to replace traditional incandescent bulbs, reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
Smart Cities Mission: The Smart Cities Mission sought to create sustainable urban centers by integrating technology, infrastructure, and governance. The goal was to improve selected cities' energy efficiency, waste management, and public transportation systems.
National Adaptation Fund: The government established the National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC) to support adaptation initiatives in sectors vulnerable to climate change impacts.
Electric Mobility: The Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) scheme aimed to promote electric vehicles (EVs) and set targets for the adoption of EVs in India.
Afforestation and Reforestation: Initiatives like the Green India Mission aimed to increase forest and tree cover, enhance biodiversity, and support climate adaptation efforts.
Air Quality Initiatives: In major cities like Delhi, the government implemented measures to combat air pollution linked to climate change and public health concerns.
International Cooperation: India engaged in international forums and collaborations to address climate change, including bilateral partnerships and participation in global climate conferences.

Modi Has a very mixed record as a leader. He fans the flames of ethnic violence and discord between religious groups, supports the coal industry, and is questionable figure in international relations. I would caution those who believe him to be some sort of savior to look more closely into his record. India could be a leader in sustainable energy, but doesn’t take the opportunity as it could.f
