Norway approves oil and gas fields despite Cop fossil phase-out push

Norway’s government said on Wednesday it has given approval for oil companies to develop 19 oil and gas fields with investments exceeding $18.5 billion, part of the country’s strategy to extend production for decades to come. The news comes six months after the Norwegian government pushed unsuccesfully at the Cop27 climate talks for an agreement to phase out unabated fossil fuels and six months before Cop28, where they are likely to try again.
Norway’s parliament in 2020 introduced temporary tax incentives to encourage petroleum investment at a time of low activity, triggering a rush of applications from energy companies.

Drilling of new oil is a quick ticket to extinction and that's exactly what the Norwegian government is doing.

How do we shake our ruling class free from billionaire fossil fuel $?

What is up with our governments SAYING they want to move to renewables and that we NEED to move to renewables to make a livable planet now and ind in the future while approving MEW FOSSIL FUEL PROJECTS? Here in USA, Biden pushed through TERRIBLE fossil projects in Alaska and the mid-Atlantic Appalachians because Senator Manchin (who now wants to run against Biden for President under “No Labels”) pushed it!
