What is Next For US Clean Energy

Trump Won – What’s Next for US Clean Energy?

With Trump back in office, his push for fossil fuels and rollback of renewable energy policies could create new challenges for the clean energy movement. From leaving the Paris Agreement in his first term to openly criticizing wind energy, Trump’s approach is a direct threat to the US’s net zero pledge by 2050.

📉 The Impact: The Biden administration’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which sparked a clean energy boom, may be weakened under Trump’s leadership. Republican states, which received 80% of IRA funds and created thousands of clean energy jobs, are unlikely to support a full repeal. However, early phase-outs of tax credits or funding caps could delay new projects and slow down progress.

🔋 Clean Energy’s Strength: Fortunately, clean energy is now driven by more than just federal policy. States like California, Texas, and New York are firmly committed to their own renewable targets, regardless of the White House agenda. Major corporations like Amazon, Google, and Walmart are also committed to going 100% renewable.

💼 Public and Corporate Demand: With broad support for clean energy jobs and companies prioritizing renewable power, the market for clean energy remains strong. The sector may face slower growth, but it’s hard to reverse the momentum entirely.

🚂 Is this a setback? Potentially. But with cost-competitive technology and state-level commitment, clean energy has already left the station. The journey may slow down, but it won’t stop.

Trump is a climate change denier and he is not interested in making the world a better place rather his interest is in how he will make profits

Now that President Trump is here to stay, I hope he is going to prioritize green technology for clean energy advancement. Moreover all environmental groups must stay alert to ensure they fight for clean energy and call out the administration in case they stop clean energy advancement.

@joseph_githinji I really don't think green energy is part of his plan as he is a selfish person who has eyes on the oil rich field all over America

Lets give him time and see but Trump should prioritize policies that support renewable energy development, such as incentives for solar and wind projects. Encouraging investment in clean technologies and modernizing the energy grid can help create jobs and reduce reliance on fossil fuels, promoting a sustainable future.

It would have been better if Harris won... either way let's hope that he actually prioritize what is important for his citizens.

There might be a slow national progress toward net-zero goals and reduce the U.S.’s influence in international climate negotiations, potentially affecting global climate efforts.
