Colombia's deforestation decreased 36% to a 23-year low in 2023, largely due to declining environmental destruction in the Amazon region. The national deforestation decreased to just over 792 square kilometers, down from 1,235 square kilometers in 2022. Colombia, a biodiverse country, loses significant forest areas annually.
