Climate conversation part 3 takes us to a journey to find out the way forwards. Nick Nattale ponders, whether inaction, delayed action, resulting climate shocks are numbing us in general and the younger generation in particular. Numbing may stop citizens to respond to climate crisis with positive action or asking for timely intervention and climate justice. People may start accept extreme weathers as neo normals.
His co-passenger, Dana Fisher, who is the author of the book "saving ourselves" and who has worked on civic movements assures Nick that this numbing need not be the only option. The climate shocks and extreme weather conditions are bringing misery and inequity. These conditions can bring social oppression, if it is not dealt in time and that may result into civic movements. Dana with her deeper wisdom also points out that civic movements often have a radical flank. Majority of population avoid radical actions because it causes serious inconvenience. But ironically, very presence of radical wing helps the moderate wing of civic movements to gain support and momentum. If climate actions are not taken in time then the world may have to go through series of sufferings and days of civil unrest.
There are other studies also available which show that global warming increases social conflicts and support the observations of Dana Fisher.
Dana has also proposed three action points and four "R"s:
1. Create solidarity
2. Connect with Labour forces, Climate change activism is still owned by elites
3. Cultivate Resilience among the community
Four Rs are:
1. Reduction
2. Resilience
3. Respond
4.Recovery
Dana trusts in peoples' power. Solidarity is required for building consensus for climate action.
Community resilience is to be build to cope up with direct and indirect climate stress.
Her second observations is also very true. Daily wage earners often fail to articulate the moot reasons behind their job loss and misery. The child who lost her farmer father in heat stroke blames their poverty and misfortune but never blames anthropogenic global warming. She does not know about it. Although many scientists are coming forward with great climate findings and heart warming empathy but there are still sections of scientists and academicians who prefer to preserve climate research for elite discourse and thus nurture deep divides. Dissemination of knowledge can empower all with insights to make informed choices.
Dana's optimism is contiguous. Humans love to leap frog for development. But humans are not actually the frog of famous "Boiling frog" story. Four Rs show a route.
Way forward is not easy, but if it is continued in right spirit then it shall become another successful journey in history of human civilization.

Nick Nutall's reflections on the climate crisis highlight a crucial issue: the potential numbing effect of inaction and delayed action on both the general public and the younger generation. This numbing can lead to a lack of response to the climate crisis, hindering positive action and the demand for timely intervention and climate justice.
