New NASA Satellite To Unravel Mysteries About Clouds, Aerosols

NASA's upcoming PACE mission will use advanced optical instruments to study aerosols (tiny particles in the air) and clouds, gaining insights into their interactions and effects on climate and air quality. By measuring light polarization, PACE can reveal details about aerosols and clouds that our eyes cannot see.
The mission's two polarimeters, HARP2 and SPEXone, will provide complementary data: HARP2 observes multiple wavelengths from various angles, while SPEXone offers high-resolution spectral information. This combined data will give scientists an unprecedented picture of Earth's atmosphere.
PACE data will help answer key questions about how aerosols affect cloud formation, how different cloud types behave, and how air quality changes over time and location. This information will improve climate models, air pollution monitoring, and our overall understanding of Earth's changing climate.
Scientists are excited about PACE's potential to unlock mysteries about the sky and contribute to a healthier planet. With its advanced technology and innovative approach, PACE promises to be a groundbreaking mission for Earth science research.
