Eco Wave Power connects first wave energy system to Israel grid.

Eco Wave Power, a Swedish company focused on onshore wave energy, has successfully linked its inaugural wave energy station at the Port of Jaffa in Tel Aviv to Israel's electricity grid. This project, named EWP-EDF One, can generate 100kW of power, equivalent to supplying electricity to around 100 households during its most productive periods. "We're delighted to witness our vision of sustainable wave energy becoming a reality at the Port of Jaffa," stated Inna Braverman, Founder and CEO of Eco Wave Power. She expressed gratitude to the EDF Renewables IL team, Israeli Energy Ministry, Atarim Group, and her Eco Wave Power team for their dedicated efforts in turning this idea into a clean energy source for Israel. The wave energy system, consisting of ten floaters along the Port's breakwater, connects to Eco Wave Power's onshore energy conversion unit, designed for easy maintenance and upgrades. This successful implementation demonstrates Eco Wave Power's capacity to construct eco-friendly power stations in diverse locations. The Port of Jaffa project showcases adaptability by repurposing existing structures, and a similar pilot station is planned for the Port of Los Angeles. Aside from contributing clean energy to Israel's grid, the EWP-EDF One station will function as an educational center, with support from the GREENinMED grant for an educational installation at the site. The project will now undergo complete system calibration, and subsequently, there will be an official connection to the grid along with a demonstration scheduled for the latter half of 2023.
